Since we are leaving soon, and many of you we have not spoken directly to, I thought I should tell you a bit about our upcoming adventure! I will attempt to answer the 5 W's with as much wit and humor as I can:
WHO: Brian and Karie-a married couple (almost 3 years now!!) that are desiring to see the world and bring people closer to Christ. Brian is a 23 year-old computer whiz: he likes his peace and quiet, and he does not mind if things around the house are messy. Karie is a 27 year old teacher and organizational freak who likes things "just so".
WHAT: We are about to embark on a 2 year commitment to live, work, teach, minister, and explore the country of Cambodia. We are also hoping to travel to the neighboring countries of Thailand and Vietnam.
WHERE: See map. We will be living in the country's capitol, Phnom Penh.
WHEN: We will set out around July 21st from California, fly a million miles, sleep none, and arrive in a hot....humid...foreign land. YAHOO!
WHY: To LIVE LIFE before we have kids. To go somewhere challenging. To explore a place and a people we know little about. To travel. To see crazy foods and know we don't have to eat them (...if we don't want to). To get out of our comfort zone. To make friends on the opposite side of the world. To be stretched. To further spread the word of God. To encourage other people with the love of Christ.
